Audrey Andersen, Cartersville City School System

What is your role with REACH Georgia?

I am an academic coach to 16 REACH Scholars in the Cartersville City School System.

What is the best part about being a REACH Georgia Champion?

It is so rewarding to watch the REACH Scholars grow throughout their high school years. When they first enter the program as 8th graders they lack the confidence and resources to understand how to achieve their college dreams. By the time they graduate high school and enter college they are proud of their accomplishments, self-confident and preparing to excel. I love being able to play a small part in (and have a front row seat to watch) their amazing transformations!

Why is it important for the community to get involved with REACH Georgia?

Each REACH Scholars is different in their goals, aspirations and talents but what they all have in common is a desire to learn, work hard, be humble and make an impact. It has been rewarding to see the REACH Scholars work hard to get into top colleges and continue to excel once on campus. Through the multi-tiered support of the REACH Georgia program, they have been able to chart a course, overcome obstacles and exceed what they thought possible. It is both rewarding and exciting to be able to make such a significant contribution in the lives of these students!
